ATL Equipment: 3-way Pegasus sorting gate system
Why was the ATL Pegasus sorting gate system chosen over other manufacturers?
- Space was the main factor. The ATL system took up much less space than any other system by having a shorter total distance.
- The other main reason was the ATL system did not need to use saloon / cutting gates to stop and start every cow. This allowed our cows to quietly move through the system, without getting stressed or constantly stopped, and did not effect cow flow exiting the parlour at all.
- Finally, the ATL system used a cost effective ear tag rather than an expensive collar.
What is the Pegasus sorting gate system used for?
The ATL system is used to help and improve the managing of groups of cows for grazing purposes and buffer feeding. The system allows the easy sorting of high and low yielders into feeding groups to help manage feed costs. It also reduces stress on the animals and ourselves, whilst achieving this saving.
Overall
ATL are a good company to deal with, supplying an accurate and cost-effective system, which is a very useful tool in helping us to achieve our targets. |
